Software terms

Last updated: 30 August 2026

Scope

These terms govern your use of the CropPlanner software. They do not govern the SALE: your purchase is made with Paddle, our official reseller and Merchant of Record, whose terms cover payment, invoicing, VAT and refunds. These terms cover the licence to use the software, which nobody else covers.

Installing or using the software means accepting them. If you don't accept them, don't install it.

What the licence grants

Nature
A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use
Scope
One active computer at a time, movable as often as you need
Use
Professional and commercial use included, with no royalty on your work
Term
That of the current subscription

The images you produce with CropPlanner are entirely yours. No clause here touches them.

To equip another Mac, enter the same key there: the seat moves with it and the old one falls back to read-only. Two moves are separated by 72 hours — this prevents one licence serving two people in turn, and has no other purpose.

What it does not allow

Reselling, renting, lending or publishing your licence key; using it on more than one computer at a time; circumventing, disabling or removing the licensing mechanism; redistributing the software, modified or not.

Decompilation remains permitted within the limits the law provides, in particular for interoperability. Nothing here restricts that right.

The trial

Thirty days, every feature open, with no card and no account to create. One trial per person. When it ends, the app stays open in read-only mode; it does not close and it holds nothing back.

Your files and your data

Your images never leave your computer. The software uploads them nowhere, keeps no remote copy, and works entirely offline.

It makes only two requests to our servers, and you know which. Activation, when you click Activate: it sends your key, a machine identifier, your Mac's name and the version number. Renewal, once a day when a licence is installed: it sends your licence and the same three items. Nothing else ever leaves — no usage statistics, no file names, no automatic reports.

The machine identifier is the one macOS assigns to the hardware. We use it to know which computer holds the licence, and for nothing else. We log the country a request came from, never the IP address.

If the licence stops

Subscription ended, seat moved elsewhere, or simply no licence at all: the app still opens and your files stay readable. It falls back to read-only — crops no longer save and export is refused — but nothing you have produced is held hostage. .cps files are documented JSON, readable without us.

Updates

Updates are provided with no commitment as to pace or content. There is no automatic update: you download a new version when you decide to.

An older version may ignore settings introduced since, and write them back without those settings. Don't go backwards without a reason.

Warranties

The software is provided as is. We do not warrant that it is free of defects, nor that it fits a particular purpose you may have in mind.

This clause takes nothing away from your statutory rights. If you buy as a consumer, the legal guarantee of conformity and the guarantee against hidden defects apply in full, whatever the preceding paragraph says.

Liability

Our liability is limited to the amounts you paid us over the twelve months preceding the event. We are not liable for indirect damages: loss of data, loss of business, loss of profit.

These limits do not apply to gross or wilful misconduct, to personal injury, or wherever the law sets them aside.

Third-party components

CropPlanner uses open-source libraries, including Qt through PySide6 under the LGPL. Their own licences apply to them and prevail over these terms as far as they are concerned.

The assisted-placement model is not distributed with the software: its weights are published without any grant of rights, and it is your computer that fetches them from their source, at your request. We do not redistribute them.

End of the licence

The licence ends with the subscription. You can cancel at any time from your billing area; the right then runs to the end of the period already paid for, and expires.

We may suspend a licence in cases of plainly fraudulent use — a published key, a circumvented mechanism, non-payment. We will tell you.

Governing law and disputes

Governing law
French law
Consumer mediator
À COMPLÉTER — médiateur de la consommation (obligatoire pour vendre à des particuliers)

If something goes wrong, write to us first: most things are settled in one message. Failing agreement, a consumer may refer the matter free of charge to the mediator above, or to the European online dispute resolution platform.

Disputes about payment fall under the terms of Paddle, our reseller.
